I can’t recall the last time I was so excited to launch a website as this. The City Centre Voice website is the campaign website of Kevin Peel (@kevpeel). Kevin is the Labour Party candidate for Manchester City Centre, in the May 2011 local elections.
I have known Kevin for sometime as part of Manchester Young Labour, so when I was approached to help with his campaign materials I jumped at the change. I am also responsible for the design of his campaign leaflets and flyers (see links below to a few examples).
The website was delivered after consultation and a few weeks of very hard work, in order to get the site live for the Labour Conference 2010. This is a much much shorter time period than any website I have worked on.
The website is designed to be totally different to all other Labour websites, which are dated, non-interactive and utterly boring. Not to mention they don’t do much for the image of the candidate or local party. Kevin’s website offers a blog-like ability in posts, CMS abilities for static-pages, and ability to host video, surveys and contact forms – as well as integration to several social media platforms & PayPal donations, these are in testing and due live soon. Lets just hope that this design has some effect on others designing sites for the labour party.
To summarise, I am very happy with the outcome of all the hard work and would like to thank Kevin for the chance to be involved in his campaign. I am looking forward to continue designing for the Manchester City Centre Labour campaign, both online and offline.
